Opportunity Overview

This position provides an immersive chance to engage with foreign exchange (FX) and interest rate markets under the guidance of seasoned strategists at OCBC. As an intern in FX & Rates Research, you will contribute valuable market analysis and gain hands-on experience comparable to that of a junior research analyst, thereby laying a solid foundation for a finance career.

Role Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth analysis of market and economic data to identify trends within FX, interest rates, and precious metals sectors.
• Maintain and periodically update existing FX and rates-related financial models and spreadsheets.
• Support strategists by refining models and developing new tools for enhanced market analysis.
• Gather and compile relevant data from diverse sources including third-party databases and central bank releases.
• Participate in focused research projects investigating significant market themes.
• Obtain exposure to various Global Markets functions to widen understanding of trading floor operations.

Team Environment

The Global Markets division at OCBC includes Treasury Advisory, Institutional Sales, Asset Liability Management, Trading, and Business Management. This collaborative environment combines multi-product financial solutions designed to optimize opportunities for both the bank and its clients.

Candidate Profile

• Current undergraduate student with a solid foundational knowledge of FX and interest rate concepts.
• Strong curiosity and analytical mindset focused on FX, rates, precious metals, and the interplay between macroeconomic factors and technical indicators.
• Forward-thinking approach with an interest in emerging macroeconomic themes and evolving industry trends.
• High attention to detail and proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with Bloomberg Terminal is advantageous.
