Role Overview
The role involves marking candidates' responses for the International GCSE English Language (New Specification 4EB1) based on a predefined mark scheme, while fully adhering to conditions of recognition and established examination protocols. Most marking is performed electronically via ePEN, typically from home, though certain subjects still require traditional marking on paper scripts sent by post. A strong command of the subject matter is vital to accurately apply the mark scheme. Each examiner will be allocated a specific number of scripts to assess.
Primary Duties
- Perform accurate and consistent marking to uphold overall quality and standards.
- Submit marking samples to the designated Team Leader within specified deadlines.
- Meet all set milestones associated with the marking schedule.
- Complete necessary administrative tasks as outlined by Pearson.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a full academic year's teaching experience within the last eight years, related directly to the qualification subject, and acquired after teacher qualification.
- Hold a degree or an equivalent qualification.
- Be a certified qualified teacher.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Have excellent time management skills to consistently meet deadlines.
- Exhibit a deep knowledge of the subject to accurately apply the marking criteria.
Additional Details
- The marking period runs from May through July.
- Training sessions for examiners are conducted between May and June.
