About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Intermediate to Senior Truss Designer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, planning, and optimizing roof and floor truss systems used in residential, multi-family, and light commercial developments. The position requires a robust grasp of structural engineering principles, proficiency in design software, and familiarity with building regulations. Collaboration with both internal teams and external partners plays a key role.

Key Duties
- Create roof and floor truss designs using recognized software such as MiTek.
- Analyze architectural drawings, engineered plans, and related specifications.
- Ensure all truss designs comply with current building codes, load demands, and safety standards.
- Improve design efficiency focusing on cost-effectiveness, manufacturability, and structural soundness.
- Communicate and coordinate with sales, production, and installation teams.
- Offer technical assistance to clients, framers, and builders as needed.
- Incorporate feedback by reviewing and updating designs based on engineer or customer input.
- Maintain thorough documentation and records of all designs.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 3 years of truss design experience for intermediate level; 7 years or more for senior level.
- Proficiency in industry-standard truss design software such as MiTek or equivalent.
- Comprehensive knowledge of structural loads, lumber characteristics, and relevant building codes.
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural as well as structural drawings.
- High attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and team collaboration capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Formal education in Engineering Technology, Construction, or a related discipline.
- Experience with Alberta’s local building codes and standards.
- Prior involvement in multi-family or commercial construction projects.
