About the Role
We are recruiting a diligent Insurance Verification & Authorization Specialist to support a busy U.S.-based medical practice. This crucial position ensures patients are prepared for next-day appointments by verifying insurance coverage accurately, securing timely authorizations, and facilitating a seamless financial process for patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for patients scheduled the next day across various carriers.
- Confirm active insurance coverage and accurately assess patient financial obligations such as copays, deductibles, and coinsurance for medical visits, procedures, and treatments.
- Secure referrals and obtain prior authorizations from primary care physicians and insurance companies as required.
- Navigate and utilize health plan portals and insurance platforms proficiently.
- Collect payments for telehealth appointments when applicable.
- Coordinate effectively with internal teams to ensure patient readiness and to prevent appointment delays, insurance denials, or cancellations.
- Support general administrative and office tasks as needed.
- Collaborate with fellow insurance verification specialists and on-site staff for smooth operations.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience in insurance verification within a medical office setting.
- Demonstrated experience handling referrals and prior authorization procedures.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, including CPT codes.
- Proficiency in using insurance portals and verification platforms.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to meet daily deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Quick learner with adaptability to changing workflows.
- Effective teamwork capabilities and professional communication skills.
- A customer service–focused approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Rheumatology clinics.
- Familiarity with Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and commercial insurance plans.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Previous remote work experience with U.S.-based medical offices.
