Role Summary

The Clinical Documentation Specialist will assess and strengthen inpatient clinical documentation so that patient severity is reflected accurately, coding is compliant, and data integrity and reimbursement results are improved.

Key Responsibilities

• Examine clinical records to confirm documentation is accurate, complete, and clinically supported.
• Work directly with providers to improve documentation habits and quality.
• Spot missing or unclear documentation and send compliant queries when needed.
• Help ensure DRG selection and coding results are correct.
• Follow AHIMA and ACDIS guidance as well as applicable regulatory standards.
• Keep workflow records and reporting information up to date and accurate.

Qualifications

• An RN license is required.
• CCDS or CDIP certification is preferred.
• At least 5 years of inpatient CDI experience is required.
• Strong clinical judgment and documentation expertise are expected.
• Prior experience using EHR platforms such as Epic or Meditech is required.
• Applicants should have strong communication and analytical abilities.
