Job description
Role overview
This position sits within the Accessories Innovation team and supports the creation of future-facing sports products. You will help shape new ideas into physical products, working across concept development, prototyping, testing, and refinement for a wide range of accessories such as global football items, socks, headwear, and bags.
Team and collaboration
You will partner with test engineers, product innovators, developers, lab teams, factory partners, and other stakeholders. The work is primarily based at Nike’s PHK headquarters in Beaverton, with regular collaboration across multiple internal groups and time spent in the Accessories Innovation Lab.
What you will do
The role involves technical contribution to Product Innovation, Technical Design, Development, Materials, and Product Management teams. You will help translate product attributes and performance learnings into innovation decisions, support research and problem-solving, and contribute insights from athlete feedback, prototyping, and testing.
Key activities
- Help coordinate the development and sampling of new equipment and soft goods innovations.
- Work with the Innovation Lab to evaluate prototype performance and interpret test results.
- Track project progress and keep the Accessories Innovation and Global Accessories teams informed.
- Balance multiple priorities and move projects ahead with limited oversight.
- Collaborate with innovators, designers, tech developers, and other cross-functional partners to advance ideas.
What the role calls for
Nike is looking for someone with practical experience in physical product design, development, and/or engineering, along with a strong interest in building new product types and better ways to make them. The ideal candidate is comfortable working through ambiguity, iterating quickly, and using feedback from testing and athletes to improve outcomes.
Required background
A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Product Design, Industrial Design, Product Creation, Development, or a related area is expected, though an equivalent mix of education, experience, and training may also be considered. The role requires 1–2 years of directly relevant experience.
