Job description

Overview

G&S Stainless Services Ltd, based in Hackballscross, Louth, Ireland, is seeking an Innovation Process Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. The role supports an Innovation Boost project backed by InterTradeIreland, providing a salary range of €42,000 to €48,000 depending on experience. The position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week and involves on-site work in Dundalk.

Company Background

G&S Stainless Services specializes in fabricating, installing, and maintaining stainless steel vessels, process pipework, structural steel, stairs, platforms, and aesthetic steelwork. Their clientele includes the pharmaceutical, food & beverage, and industrial sectors across Ireland and Northern Ireland. The company prides itself on delivering turnkey solutions that combine superior fabrication quality, responsive customer service, and technical know-how to handle complex client demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain 3D digital design and prototyping frameworks.
  • Use Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DFMA) principles to enhance efficiency, quality, and repeatability.
  • Lead the design of mechanical, process, and instrumentation systems, including fluid handling, controls, sensors, and chemical treatment units.
  • Create and document service delivery protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and workflow processes.
  • Ensure all projects comply with regulations such as CE marking under the Machinery Directive, safety standards, and in-house testing requirements.

Project Focus

The initial focus lies on designing and managing bespoke equipment and related protocols, paving the way for G&S Stainless to offer innovative services to its expanding client base. The successful candidate will lead this initiative in partnership with Southern Regional College, under the InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost Programme.

Qualifications and Eligibility

  • A degree in Process, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least one year of relevant experience in mechanical or process engineering roles.
  • Legal authorization to work in Ireland/EU is mandatory. Candidates requiring visas or work permits must include valid documentation with their application. Failure to provide this may lead to application rejection.

Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalents for equipment and system design.
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) methodologies.
  • Strong grasp of mechanical design, process flow understanding, or equipment fabrication techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturing specifications.
  • Past experience in product design, particularly involving process or fluid handling systems.
  • Knowledge of process engineering, controls integration, and creating service delivery procedures for industrial machinery.

Additional Information

Interviews are expected to be conducted during the week starting 11th May 2026. The salary support offered by the Innovation Boost Programme lasts for 18 months, yet employment is a permanent contract with G&S Stainless Services Ltd beyond this period.
