About the Role

The Infection Preventionist leads infection control efforts within a healthcare setting, ensuring safety and compliance. This role involves monitoring and preventing the spread of infectious diseases, promoting health standards, and collaborating across departments to reduce risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing surveillance of communicable diseases and track infection trends within the facility.
  • Investigate potential clusters of infections to identify sources and mitigate outbreaks.
  • Conduct prevention rounds to assess adherence to infection control protocols.
  • Collaborate with various departments to develop and execute strategies that minimize infection risks.
  • Ensure facility compliance with regulatory requirements related to infection control.
  • Serve as a liaison with public health agencies for reporting and communication.
  • Develop and update infection prevention policies and procedures.
  • Provide education and training programs to staff on infection control practices.
  • Manage infection control investigations and coordinate with Employee Health services.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide infection control expertise as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Medical Technology, Public Health, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years experience in infection control or a related healthcare role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of infection prevention standards and protocols.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required within two years of employment.
