Role overview
Clean Harbors is hiring Oilsands Sandblasters, also known as Blasting Machine Operators, to work on the CNRL Albian site in Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a full-time 362 Teamsters Union role with a top wage rate of $35.81 per hour.

Key responsibilities
- Follow all safe-work procedures, policies, and processes while keeping health and safety as the top priority.
- Strip dirt, coating, grease, debris, and other heavy buildup from surfaces.
- Prepare and run blast pots, spray pumps, and related equipment.
- Load blast pots and carry out maintenance or repairs on blasting equipment when needed.
- Support painting work, including spray application and brush-and-roll tasks.
- Diagnose problems quickly and resolve equipment issues in the field.
- Complete the paperwork and records required for the job.
- Carry out field-level risk assessments.
- Attend daily safety meetings.
- Work cooperatively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors as part of a team.
- Take on other duties assigned by management from time to time.
Qualifications and job requirements
- A valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driving abstract is required; a Class 3 licence is considered an advantage.
- At least 2 years of experience in abrasive blasting is required, along with familiarity with mobile blast equipment, power tools, and safe operating practices.
- Experience in the oilsands is an asset.
- You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly throughout the day.
- Ability to work at heights is necessary, including working from a JLG and a crane with a man basket.
- Valid First Aid, H2S Alive, and CSO certifications are required before the first day; training can be arranged.
- You should be able to work with minimal supervision in a team-oriented, safety-focused setting.
- Availability for day and night shifts on a 14/14 rotation is required.
- Comfort working outdoors in changing weather conditions is important.
