Job description
Role overview
The In-House Photographer & Videographer will be responsible for capturing the visual story of the group’s hospitality, bakery, café, restaurant, bar, retail, and lifestyle brands as they develop, launch, and operate.
Photography is the core of the position, with added responsibility for short-form video, behind-the-scenes footage, reels, and edited creative assets that can be used for branding, marketing, press, internal communication, digital platforms, and presentations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for hospitality, food and beverage, interiors, lifestyle, people, products, and brand-led storytelling, and should be able to showcase atmosphere, energy, detail, craftsmanship, and the wider growth journey of a fast-moving hospitality group.
Key responsibilities
Photography
- Create high-quality images across the group’s concepts, including hotels, leisure spaces, restaurants, cafés, bakeries, bars, retail zones, kitchens, production areas, and lifestyle settings.
- Photograph food, beverages, bakery items, cakes, pastries, breads, retail merchandise, packaged products, interiors, exteriors, staff, events, tastings, launches, and behind-the-scenes activity.
- Record the development process for new concepts, such as menu creation, tastings, product trials, kitchen testing, fit-out progress, team training, pre-opening work, supplier visits, and launch preparation.
- Deliver consistent imagery that can be used for websites, menus, presentations, press kits, marketing materials, digital channels, internal updates, and brand archives.
- Make sure every image matches the tone, quality, and positioning of the specific brand it represents.
- Balance polished campaign-style visuals with natural, candid behind-the-scenes moments.
- Assist with photography for brand launches, product launches, menu rollouts, seasonal campaigns, events, and venue openings.
Videography and short-form content
- Capture short video content suitable for reels, digital campaigns, websites, presentations, and brand storytelling.
- Film behind-the-scenes activity, chef and team interactions, product development, food and drink preparation, venue walkthroughs, events, tastings, launches, and lifestyle-oriented content.
- Produce straightforward, polished short edits such as reels, highlight pieces, teaser clips, launch snippets, and storytelling videos.
- Edit footage with suitable pacing, framing, transitions, captions, music, and basic colour correction where needed.
- Collaborate with the brand and marketing teams to create content that supports campaigns, launches, announcements, and ongoing activity.
- Keep video output refined, authentic, and aligned with the brand rather than overly generic or trend-driven.
Food, drink, and product photography
- Photograph plated dishes, bakery products, cakes, pastries, breads, drinks, coffee, bottled items, retail goods, packaging, and merchandise.
- Apply an understanding of food styling, lighting, composition, camera angles, texture, freshness, and presentation.
- Work with chefs, bakers, bar staff, and product teams to capture items at their best.
- Support product shoots for retail use, delivery platforms, menus, websites, catalogues, brand decks, and internal approvals.
- Ensure products are represented consistently and accurately for commercial and brand purposes.
- Create both clean product-focused images and atmospheric lifestyle-style visuals.
Lifestyle, hospitality, and environment shoots
- Capture guest experience, venue mood, team interaction, service details, table settings, interiors, terraces, bars, counters, retail displays, and lifestyle moments.
- Produce visuals that communicate the personality, energy, and guest experience of each concept.
- Support pre-opening and launch shoots, including soft openings, events, training days, tastings, and press previews.
- Capture candid and directed moments with team members, chefs, founders, partners, and guests when needed.
- Photograph venues and spaces in a way that reflects the overall guest journey and brand positioning.
Behind-the-scenes documentation
- Document the group’s journey from concept development through to opening and ongoing operations, including menu development, recipe testing, tastings, training, fit-out progress, product trials, and launch preparation.
- Capture the skill, detail, process, people, and operational energy behind each concept.
- Build a strong visual archive that supports future storytelling, press, investor presentations, internal reporting, recruitment, social channels, and brand history.
- Create content while working discreetly in live environments without interrupting chefs, teams, guests, or service.
Editing and post-production
- Edit, retouch, colour-correct, crop, and format images for different uses and platforms.
- Edit short video pieces and reels for digital, presentation, and marketing needs.
- Prepare final files in the correct formats for web, print, press, presentations, internal use, and digital channels.
- Maintain consistent editing standards across brands while adapting the look where necessary.
- Ensure stills are crisp, well-composed, and suitable for the brand.
- Ensure video edits are concise, professional, and visually appealing.
Digital asset management
- Maintain an organised digital asset library with clear file names, folders, dates, brand categories, and usage notes.
- Store raw files, edited versions, selects, final exports, and video assets in a structured way.
- Make sure the team can easily find and use photography and video files when required.
- Archive content by brand, concept, project, event, product, and date.
- Ensure final assets are backed up and safely stored.
Creative support
- Work closely with brand, marketing, culinary, bakery, bar, operations, and leadership teams to understand upcoming priorities and shoot needs.
- Contribute ideas for visual storytelling, shoot concepts, content formats, angles, and key brand moments.
- Support campaign work, seasonal content, menu launches, product launches, venue openings, and special events.
- Adapt photo and video style for different concepts across the group while maintaining strong quality standards.
- Take direction from multiple stakeholders while also proactively identifying moments worth capturing.
Required experience, skills, and technical expectations
The role calls for 3–5 years of experience in photography, ideally within hospitality, lifestyle, food and beverage, retail, luxury, hotels, restaurants, cafés, bakeries, or consumer brands. A strong portfolio is expected, showing food, drink, product, lifestyle, interiors, and people photography, along with experience in behind-the-scenes work, events, launches, and brand storytelling.
Practical experience in shooting and editing short-form video is required. Experience in fast-paced settings with multiple brands, venues, or projects is preferred, and prior work in-house, at an agency, as a freelancer, or within a hospitality, hotel, restaurant, or lifestyle business would be an advantage.
Technical expectations include DSLR or mirrorless camera systems; lenses suitable for food, product, interiors, lifestyle, and people shoots; and basic lighting tools such as reflectors, diffusers, tripods, and stabilisation equipment. Proficiency in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop is expected, along with video-editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, or similar tools. Basic audio equipment would be beneficial. The role also requires the ability to export files in formats suitable for web, print, presentation, press, and digital platforms, as well as manage large volumes of photo and video assets.
Qualifications and portfolio
A degree, diploma, or certification in photography, film, media, visual communication, design, or a related field is preferred, although a strong practical portfolio may be accepted instead of formal qualifications. Training in hospitality, food, product, or lifestyle photography would be an added advantage.
Applicants should be able to share a portfolio that includes food photography, beverage or cocktail photography, product or retail photography, hospitality or lifestyle environments, behind-the-scenes or documentary-style work, interiors or venue photography, short-form video or reel examples, and any launch, event, campaign, or brand storytelling content.
Working pattern and flexibility
This role may be set up as a full-time in-house position, a part-time arrangement of 3–4 days per week, a short-term contract during pre-opening, launch, and development phases, or a project-based engagement depending on business needs.
Flexibility is required for tastings, launches, events, venue openings, early production days, and occasional evening or weekend shoots.
