Job description
About the team
The Water team works across water, wastewater, stormwater, surface water and irrigation, collaborating with clients in municipal, industrial, transport, commercial, mining and agricultural sectors. The broader purpose of the team is to help advance and safeguard Aotearoa New Zealand for future generations, with work that influences everyday life in meaningful ways.
Opportunity
Beca is seeking a Hydraulic Modeller with a focus on wastewater and water supply to join its Water team. This opportunity is available across offices in New Zealand. The role suits someone who is motivated to contribute technical ideas, challenge established approaches and help improve outcomes through modelling work. The work varies day to day and brings new technical problems to solve.
What you will do
- Create, build and fine-tune hydrological and hydraulic models for wastewater and water networks.
- Review and interpret hydraulic, GIS and survey datasets to support modelling work.
- Use GIS tools such as ArcGIS and QGIS as part of analysis and delivery.
- Carry out modelling investigations, master planning tasks, and growth and development assessments.
- Assist senior engineers with planning, feasibility and strategy studies, along with concept design for water, wastewater and recycled water projects.
- Prepare outputs that can be reviewed and used by specialist team members.
About you
You are an ambitious Hydraulic Modeller looking to develop further in the water sector and have a strong record of delivering modelling assignments in consulting. You hold a Bachelor of Science, Engineering, or another relevant qualification, and bring more than six years of relevant experience. You understand wastewater and water supply hydraulics well and have worked with modelling tools such as InfoWorks ICM and WS Pro. Your background includes both technical delivery and client interaction, and you are comfortable building productive networks that help generate repeat work. You enjoy learning, sharing knowledge and improving the way work is done for the benefit of the team and clients.
