Overview
Global Dimensions is a growing HUBZone small business, owned by service-disabled veterans and headquartered in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The company works across language and culture services, training and education, IT, cybersecurity, and intelligence specialties. It is hiring an HVAC Technician - Assessor for Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
In this role, you will handle the installation, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial HVAC systems, including boilers, chillers, and light commercial equipment. The work calls for a solid grasp of air-conditioning theory, chilled-water production, and both mechanical and electrical principles.
Key Duties
- Inspect HVAC systems and related components such as heating units, exhaust fans, and ventilation equipment to assess condition, find repair needs, and advise on preventive maintenance.
- Install HVAC systems and equipment, and oversee repair work on parts such as pumps, motors, air handlers, fan coils, and piping.
- Work with the HVAC Lead and/or Trade Shop Supervisor to complete jobs and work orders in an efficient manner.
- Identify the root causes of HVAC failures or system issues in order to determine whether repair or replacement is needed.
- Monitor routine and preventive maintenance work to help keep HVAC systems available and operational.
- Prepare written documentation such as work-order updates and activity logs to record work completed and share status information.
- Request tools, parts, and supplies so inventory levels remain adequate for installations and repairs.
- Respond to emergency situations during or after normal hours when immediate safety concerns must be addressed.
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- A minimum of five years of journey-level HVAC experience is required.
- EPA Universal Certification is mandatory.
Additional Requirements
- A valid U.S. driver's license is required.
- A valid U.S. passport is preferred.
- Candidate must satisfy all current USCENTCOM deployment policy requirements under the USCENTCOM APR 23 MOD EIGHTEEN TO USCENTCOM INDIVIDUAL AND INDIVIDUAL-UNIT DEPLOYMENT POLICY.
- Ability to obtain and keep a valid Qatar residency visa is required.
- Must be able to work in severe environmental conditions, including dust and very high temperatures.
- Must be prepared for long shifts and exposure to weather and hazardous working conditions.
- Travel is 100% and based in a deployed location.
- A DoD Secret Clearance is required and must be maintained.
Knowledge and Tools
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in the trade is required.
- Ability to read and apply codes, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings is required.
- Working knowledge of the installation and operation of a broad range of HVAC systems and equipment is required.
