Role Overview
The Human Resources Specialist role is pivotal within the National Guard OMD, primarily focusing on supporting Soldiers with their personnel and career-related needs. This position serves as the main contact point for Soldiers regarding benefits, policies, and sensitive matters. Duties involve managing personnel records, handling personnel actions, coordinating evaluations and awards, and performing administrative tasks that uphold Soldiers’ readiness and welfare. This opportunity allows the development of extensive HR expertise in a dynamic setting while receiving compensation throughout training and service. Attention to detail, exceptional communication, and professionalism are essential to effectively address the diverse requirements of military personnel.
Responsibilities
- Provide full spectrum human resource support, including managing personnel records and data entry tasks.
- Manage strength distribution to ensure efficient personnel deployment.
- Facilitate Soldiers’ readiness and welfare by processing leave, passes, and ID card requests.
- Organize and support evaluations, awards ceremonies, and recognition initiatives.
- Maintain accurate emergency contact information and personnel accountability.
- Manage office supplies and filing systems to ensure smooth operations.
- Support postal and personnel accountability functions.
- Assist with processing recommendations and personnel action in line with military guidelines.
Qualifications
- Must enlist in the Army National Guard.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED; high school juniors are also eligible.
- Be between 17 and 35 years old.
- Be able to pass physical exams and meet legal, moral, and citizenship standards.
- Show a strong interest in business administration, personnel management, and administrative duties.
- Exhibit excellent organizational and attentive detail skills.
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication capabilities.
- Follow instructions accurately and work well within a team environment.
