About the Role

This position primarily operates under the Region VI Director's Office at the Texas Department Of Criminal Justice located in Gatesville, TX. The Human Resources Specialist I is tasked with managing employee leave processes including sick leave, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and military leave. Daily responsibilities involve processing medical and military orders, and accurately recording employee absence time related to sickness and military duty.

Work Responsibilities

  • Process sick leave, FMLA, and military leave requests for staff members.
  • Receive and handle employees' medical and military documentation and orders.
  • Enter and maintain employee absence data related to sickness and military leaves.

Qualifications and Preferences

  • Completion of high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution is mandatory.
  • Detail-oriented with a dependable work ethic is essential.
  • Prior experience in Human Resources is highly desirable but not mandatory.

Additional Information

  • Retired persons employed will receive a salary 2.5% less than the advertised rate.
  • Position requires travel approximately 25% of the time, potentially entailing 1-5 overnight stays per month.
  • No hazardous duties or longevity benefits associated with this role.
