About the Role
This Human Resources Specialist position works with general oversight to provide end-to-end HR support for Iowa Bankers and its association members. The role covers payroll administration, employee benefits support, and day-to-day guidance on HR matters. You will act as a main contact for member banks, help them manage HR responsibilities, and ensure work is carried out in line with applicable regulations. The job calls for initiative, strong communication, and the ability to juggle several assignments at once. You will also contribute to HR projects and improvement efforts that strengthen services for member banks.
Qualifications
The preferred candidate should have a bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent mix of education and work experience. A minimum of 3 years in human resources is required, including at least 3 years handling payroll processing. Experience in bank-related HR work is an advantage. Comfort using an HRIS platform is essential, and Paylocity experience is considered a plus. Candidates should understand HR laws and regulations well, and bring strong organizational and people skills. Professional credentials such as PHR or SHRM-CP are preferred, reflecting ongoing commitment to HR development.
Responsibilities
- Handle Iowa Bankers ASO support by running payroll from start to finish, managing benefits administration, and carrying out a variety of HR tasks for member banks.
- Answer questions from staff at member banks quickly and provide practical advice across a wide range of HR topics.
- Contribute to special HR projects and initiatives that improve service delivery and compliance for member banks.
- Keep bank personnel informed about regulatory updates that affect HR operations so they can stay current with legal requirements.
- Maintain precise, well-organized records for payroll, benefits, and general HR activity.
- Help build and roll out HR policies and procedures that align with industry expectations and legal standards.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the HR team and broader organizational objectives.
