Job description
Role overview
This position offers an opportunity to act as a hands-on HR partner for the Investment Banking and Capital Markets business, supporting a worldwide employee base of about 2,300 people. The role is based in New York and blends strategic advising with day-to-day HR execution. You will work closely with investment banking teams in New York, as well as colleagues across the U.S., Canada, and Brazil, while coordinating with global HR partners in EMEA and APAC and the wider HR organization.
Core HR partnership areas
As a trusted advisor to the business, you will contribute across multiple HR areas, including performance management, employee relations, compensation, reporting, process automation, talent development, community and engagement initiatives, and recruitment.
Performance management
Work with line managers to ensure the performance review cycle is carried out smoothly and consistently. This includes helping managers prepare for mid-year and annual reviews, supporting rating and ranking discussions, participating in roundtable sessions, preparing materials for meetings, advising senior leaders on outcomes, and aligning with global partners to maintain consistency across regions.
Employee relations
Partner with Employment Legal Counsel on employee relations cases to reduce risk and support practical resolutions. This involves advising on performance concerns, handling complaints and escalations, supporting investigations, and helping resolve employee issues in a timely and sensitive manner.
Compensation
Carry out internal and market compensation comparisons and analysis. Support the year-end compensation cycle through system changes, process documentation, audits, and other related tasks as needed.
Reporting and analytics
Maintain high-quality data and reporting accuracy to support business decisions. Prepare concise, clear, and actionable reports and analyses for senior leadership in the Investment Banking division.
AI initiatives and process automation
Look for opportunities to simplify HR workflows through AI-enabled solutions and automation tools, helping improve scalability and efficiency across HR processes.
Talent development
Identify learning and development needs and collaborate with the Training & Development team to build and deliver learning programs across all levels of the Investment Banking business.
Community and engagement
Work with the Community & Engagement team on initiatives that help strengthen culture, connection, and employee engagement across the organization.
Recruitment and onboarding
Support lateral and campus hiring by partnering with recruiting teams on compensation packages, hiring approvals, and consistency across roles and geographies. Also help ensure a smooth onboarding experience for new hires.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should bring at least 3 years of HR experience in a global, highly matrixed financial services environment. Experience supporting Investment Banking or another front-office function is preferred. You should have broad exposure to core HR areas such as recruitment, performance management, talent management, promotions, retention, employee relations, and compensation.
You will need strong relationship-building skills and the ability to establish credibility quickly with stakeholders at all levels. A strong client-service mindset, sound judgment, and a practical, outcome-focused approach are important. The role also requires the ability to work independently, manage several priorities at once, and produce high-quality work under tight deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are needed, along with the ability to present information clearly to management. You should also have solid analytical skills, including experience using metrics, reporting, and data to support decisions. HRIS knowledge is required, including system navigation, data upkeep, reporting, and process support. Experience with Power Apps and AI tools is considered an advantage, especially where they can improve workflow efficiency. Advanced Excel capability is required, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, Conditional Formatting, logical formulas, SUMIFS, and COUNTIFS, plus the ability to work with and present large datasets.
Additional information
This role supports a global population of approximately 2,300 employees and involves working with HR stakeholders across North America, EMEA, and APAC. The position combines both strategic advisory responsibilities and operational HR delivery.
