Role overview
AMBA is looking for a Human Resources Business Partner who will act as a trusted internal advisor and support employee record updates, workplace concerns, and other matters that can influence performance. In this role, you will also help drive HR policies, programs, and services across recruiting, retention, diversity and inclusion, benefits, performance management, employee relations, employment practices, employee communications, and staff events.
What you will do
- Act as the primary HR contact for assigned employee groups across all levels on a wide range of HR topics.
- Build strong working relationships with managers and staff while handling sensitive and confidential matters such as terminations, medical leaves, ADA requests, FMLA leave, performance improvement plans, corrective actions, and coaching support.
- Help leaders identify, document, and communicate performance results and areas needing improvement.
- Work with employees to resolve concerns related to onboarding, payroll, leave, and other employee relations matters.
- Lead new hire orientation sessions and conduct exit interviews.
- Train managers on performance management processes, procedures, and guidelines, with emphasis on action planning.
- Recommend HR initiatives that improve workplace relationships, strengthen morale, and support productivity and retention.
- Support employee training efforts, including new hire orientation and engagement-related programs.
- Promote the organization’s total rewards offering, covering both direct and indirect benefits.
- Track FMLA leave cases, maintain ongoing communication during leave, coordinate between employees and the insurance carrier, and monitor and communicate time usage.
- Respond to employee benefit questions and provide guidance.
- Carry out additional duties as needed.
Requirements
- Ability to manage time well and work effectively through ambiguity and change.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- At least 3 years of Human Resources experience.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification, or the ability to earn one within the first year of employment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to negotiate practical solutions to complex issues.
- Ability to build strong relationships and create positive experiences for internal stakeholders, including senior leaders.
- Comfort using personal computers and Microsoft Office tools.
- Experience with HRIS and performance management systems is preferred.
