Job Overview
The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Specialist is tasked with promoting and ensuring workplace safety and environmental protection by supporting the rollout and oversight of comprehensive HSE programs. This position involves close collaboration with the HSE Manager to detect hazards, establish safety guidelines, and train staff on best safety practices.
Core Responsibilities
- Assist in creating and enforcing HSE 360 policies and initiatives.
- Keep HSE files and records current and well-maintained.
- Conduct safety inspections and hazard evaluations on premises and equipment.
- Carry out investigations and documentation of health and safety incidents and breaches.
- Work collaboratively across departments to drive positive safety culture changes.
- Utilize strong analytical abilities to solve safety-related problems.
- Apply knowledge of risk evaluation and incident analysis methods effectively.
- Support the HSE department administratively as needed.
- Manage documentation and data entry related to HSE under systems aligned with ISO 45001 certification standards.
- Continuously update and monitor the status of all HSE documentation.
- Organize, oversee, and track HSE activities, including training sessions, audits, inspections, and management reviews.
- Maintain and report key HSE performance metrics and adherence indicators.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Candidate Requirements
- At least three years of professional experience as an HSE Specialist or in a comparable role.
- Possession of NEBOSH IGC 1&2, OSHA or IOSH Managing Safely certifications; ISO 45001 or equivalent credentials required.
- Familiarity with the manufacturing sector is highly advantageous.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Exhibits professionalism, independence, good resourcefulness, and discretion.
- Works well within teams and remains focused on task completion.
- Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously with a priority-based approach.
- Demonstrates sound judgment and strong analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse groups.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English.
