About the Role
The HSE Assistant Officer supports health, safety, and environmental compliance at a construction site. This position helps the HSE team track site operations, uphold safety standards, carry out inspections, and make sure employees follow the required HSE rules. It also contributes to safety awareness, incident documentation, and risk assessment activities that help maintain a secure workplace and reduce hazards.

Responsibilities
- Support the HSE team in applying site safety rules, procedures, and policies.
- Keep a close watch on site operations to ensure they meet legal and safety standards.
- Carry out scheduled inspections, risk reviews, and safety audits.
- Spot unsafe conditions, report hazards, and follow up until corrective actions are completed.
- Assist with incident investigations, documentation, and preventive action planning.
- Help deliver safety briefings and toolbox talks for workers and site personnel.
- Update and maintain HSE files, reports, and safety-related records.
- Check that PPE and safety gear are available and being used correctly.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in HSE work within the construction sector.
- Diploma or college degree is preferred and considered an advantage.
- IOSH certification is mandatory.
- NEBOSH certification is an advantage.
- Any additional HSE training credentials will be considered beneficial.
- IMS certification and prior auditing experience are added advantages.
- Sound understanding of HSE regulations and risk control practices.
- Capability to support inspections and help enforce compliance on site.
- Strong communication and reporting abilities.
