Galway, is a worldwide leader in geochemical sample preparation, analytical procedures, and data management, hosting their European hub lab in this location.
Role Overview
We are looking for an HSE Administrator to be based fully onsite at our Loughrea facility. This permanent role involves supporting health, safety, and environmental functions to ensure compliance and promote sustainability across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage uploading hazard and incident reports into the Compliance Portal efficiently.
- Distribute HSE communication materials such as alerts, memos, and Toolbox Talks within the lab.
- Maintain all HSE documentation, including statutory records required by law.
- Conduct risk assessments for daily operational activities in the lab.
- Gather and analyze monthly HSE Playbook data, update corrective actions aligned with the HSE Strategy Plan.
- Collaborate with site management on ESG objectives like energy conservation, waste reduction efforts, and pollution control equipment reviews.
- Collect sustainability metrics for the Loughrea site, supporting ALS’s broader Sustainability and ESG targets to minimize carbon emissions.
- Support the HSE Officer in implementing Life Saving Rules (e.g., Work at Height, Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures) across the workplace.
- Evaluate compliance with ALS Foundation Standards and perform HSE audits and inspections, preparing reports and following up on corrective actions.
- Assist in delivering HSE inductions for newcomers, contractors, and visitors.
- Coordinate health surveillance programs for relevant staff members.
- Participate regularly in Joint Health, Safety, and Environmental Committee meetings.
- Undertake any additional duties related to health, safety, and environmental management as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant qualification in Health and Safety, Environmental science, or a related discipline.
- At least two years’ prior experience in an HSE administrative role.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and 45001 standards is a strong advantage.
- Preferred certifications include Manual Handling Instructor and VDU (Visual Display Unit) Assessors qualifications.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong skills in engaging and influencing staff to foster a positive safety culture.
- Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving aptitude, and results-oriented mindset.
- Excellent communication, IT proficiency, and report writing capabilities.
- Competency in managing and resolving conflicts effectively.
