Job description
About EY and the team
EY is focused on helping people and organisations build confidence in their future while contributing to a better working world. In New Zealand, the HR Transformation practice supports clients in reshaping their HR and people functions through modern technology and process improvement.
This is a growing, high-energy team where you can help influence the direction of the practice as it expands. You will work alongside colleagues who encourage development, bring fresh perspectives, and use the latest digital tools and platforms in an inclusive environment.
The opportunity
EY is seeking a Payroll Business Analyst to support HR transformation work with a strong focus on implementing SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll (ECP) solutions. The role involves working across a range of HR and payroll projects for clients in different sectors, with the aim of improving payroll operations and enhancing the employee experience.
This opportunity is well suited to someone with practical payroll operations experience or experience delivering payroll technology implementations or upgrades, either on the consulting side or within a business environment.
The role can be based from any EY office in Aotearoa. Flexible working arrangements, including reduced hours, may be possible depending on the situation.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will contribute to client engagements by developing practical insights, gathering business requirements, and supporting the delivery of payroll transformation projects.
- Develop tailored insights and approaches that suit each client and project context.
- Work with stakeholders across all levels to capture, document, and align business requirements between HR/payroll teams and technical teams.
- Review and improve HCM and payroll systems as well as related HR and payroll processes to uncover opportunities for better service delivery.
- Assist technical, functional, testing, change, and training workstreams by documenting processes and preparing design specifications.
- Facilitate requirements workshops and solution demonstrations with participants ranging from operational teams to senior executives.
Skills and experience for success
To do well in this role, you should bring relevant education or qualifications and hands-on exposure to payroll or HR systems and processes.
- A degree or qualification in Business, Commerce, HR, HR Technology, or Information Systems.
- Experience working with HR and payroll systems, preferably SAP SuccessFactors, including process review, analysis, and design.
- A solid understanding of payroll technology challenges and how technology can improve employee and business outcomes.
Additional experience that would help
- Background in workforce management projects that improve functionality and overall performance.
- Experience contributing to large projects within cross-functional or diverse teams, including project-related activities.
- Consulting experience, with the confidence to engage clients and colleagues at different seniority levels and facilitate discussions and workshops.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships.
What EY offers
EY provides a diverse and inclusive environment where you can grow your career and build future-focused skills through global exposure and practical experiences. The benefits package includes:
- Career development support and opportunities to shape your own career path.
- Flexible working policies designed to support work-life balance and autonomy.
- A comprehensive benefits package including a yearly wellness incentive, access to an additional 8 weeks of flex leave each year, and family-friendly policies such as up to 26 weeks of gender-neutral paid parental leave.

The organisation is committed to a recruitment experience that is equitable and free from barriers, and applicants can request support or adjustments during the hiring process.
