In this position, you will act as a cultural ambassador for Burberry while using your HR expertise to partner closely with business leaders and HR colleagues. The aim is to strengthen talent, leadership, and team capability so the business can deliver strong results now and in the future. This role supports Northeast stores, East Coast outlets, and the distribution center.

Key Responsibilities

You will work across several areas of human resources, including business partnering, employee relations, HR operations, rewards, talent management, and training support.

Business Acumen

  • Create people strategies that improve retention, strengthen development, and reduce unwanted turnover.
  • Design approaches that help assess and improve organization effectiveness and employee satisfaction.
  • Review and present regular business and employee performance reports for the assigned markets.
  • Act as a credible advisor to cross-functional partners and help teams maximize performance and talent potential.
  • Interpret data and reports to support decisions and recommend proactive improvements to operations.
  • Build strong partnerships with business leaders and provide coaching, challenge, and guidance on people-related matters.

Employee Relations

  • Help protect the business by supporting legal compliance while staying aligned with brand values.
  • Work with the regional Employee Relations Partner on grievance matters and investigations.
  • Strengthen manager capability through coaching, training, and policy briefings on employee relations issues.
  • Manage relationships with unions, work councils, and employee representatives when needed.
  • Support labor relations and union engagement activities.

HR Operations

  • Partner with the Senior Manager of Human Resources to improve and roll out HR processes that support business growth.
  • Promote consistent use of HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation, while sharing best practices and guidance.
  • Maintain fairness and accuracy in HR documentation.
  • Carry out exit interviews.

Rewards

  • Collect feedback from the population you support on the reward framework.
  • Lead the annual review and reward planning cycle, including helping managers make merit decisions.
  • Spot market pay opportunities and internal role considerations that may affect retention and talent management.

Talent Management and Development

  • Oversee performance management, including coaching, documentation, follow-up, and decisions related to improvement plans or termination.
  • Work with retail managers on development plans, goal setting, and monthly sales performance reviews for the retail population.
  • Advise and support managers as they move through performance management situations.
  • Promote internal mobility, identify strategic roles, and ensure succession and talent action plans are in place.
  • Partner with Learning and Development on training, career mobility, and performance improvement programs.
  • Interview final senior management candidates for the retail population when identified by the talent team.
  • Review employment offers together with the talent team and line managers.

Training and Onboarding

  • Support onboarding for new managers alongside the retail training team.
  • Make sure managers complete 30/60/90-day probation reviews for new hires.
  • Train new employees on HR policies, benefits, procedures, and Burberry values.
  • Deliver in-store training sessions as required with other HR business partners.

Measures of Success

  • Strong working relationships with business partners, reflected in commercial thinking, sound decision-making, and feedback from senior leaders.
  • Improved talent performance, internal movement, and capability development, shown through calibration completion, talent plans, internal promotions, and objective alignment.
  • Reduced business risk through solid succession planning and clear management of key talent risks.
  • Effective handling of employee relations matters, including avoiding unnecessary cases and resolving issues well when they do arise.
  • Successful use of the global people operating model, including collaboration across HR teams and accurate people data.
  • Delivery of HR and business projects or organizational change initiatives.

Candidate Profile

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of human resources experience, with at least 2 years in a management role.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Ability to work in stores across multiple local locations for about 80% of the work week.
  • Experience across multiple HR functions.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of HR policies and practices, including relevant state and federal employment laws.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build productive relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comfort handling multiple complex matters and balancing priorities at the same time.
  • Ability to adjust communication style to different audiences and influence without formal authority.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making ability, with a track record of developing effective solutions aligned to business goals.
