Position Overview

The role is designed for an experienced Industrial Relations professional to oversee labor relations, ensure compliance with labor laws and statutory regulations, handle employee relations, and manage plant administration functions. This individual will be vital in fostering a harmonious workforce environment, conducting union negotiations, and coordinating with government agencies and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain healthy industrial relations and a positive workplace atmosphere.
  • Address employee grievances, resolve disputes, and manage disciplinary processes effectively.
  • Develop strong rapport with union representatives, workers, and employees to prevent industrial conflicts.
  • Lead collective bargaining and wage negotiations to ensure fair outcomes.
  • Assure full compliance with all applicable labor and statutory laws including Factory Act, Industrial Relations Code, CLRA, Minimum Wages, Payment of Wages, ESI, EPF, Bonus, Gratuity, and others.
  • Maintain all statutory records, registers, licenses, and regulatory documentation essential for audits and inspections.
  • Coordinate with government departments for approvals, inspections, and compliance-related activities.
  • Conduct comprehensive domestic inquiries in line with legal standards and prepare documentation necessary for any labor litigation.
  • Manage union relationships and monitor contract labor compliance, including licenses, wage payments, and statutory remittances.
  • Perform audits related to contractor compliance and coordinate with legal counsel for labor-related legal matters and ongoing litigations.
  • Formulate, review, and ensure implementation of HR, IR, and disciplinary policies.
  • Organize welfare activities such as health camps, safety campaigns, and employee engagement programs.
  • Oversee plant and office administration including facility management, security, housekeeping, canteen, transport, guest house, visitor management, procurement, vendor management, and utilities with focus on efficiency and cost control.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Educational background: MBA or PGDM in Human Resources; additional certification or diploma in Industrial Relations, Labour Laws, or Factory Act would be advantageous.
  • Extensive expertise in labor laws, statutory compliance, and industrial relations.
  • Experience in managing union negotiations, collective bargaining, and contract labor administration.
  • Proficient in conducting disciplinary actions and domestic inquiries.
  • Strong liaison capabilities with government bodies and legal coordination for labor litigation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and ability to resolve conflicts and crises.
  • Analytical thinking with effective decision-making skills.
