The role is centered on US employment law expertise and supporting a positive, compliant workplace culture.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as a primary contact for employees and managers on policy interpretation, employee concerns, conflict handling, performance discussions, and confidential issues.
  • Oversee benefits administration, including 401(k) processing, open enrollment, coordination with vendors, invoice reconciliation, and qualifying life-event updates.
  • Monitor compliance with employment and workplace regulations such as FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, ERISA, COBRA, ACA, HIPAA, and state-specific requirements.
  • Manage leave programs and related processes, including FMLA, disability, parental leave, workplace accommodations, workers’ compensation claims, and return-to-work coordination.
  • Maintain HRIS accuracy by updating employee records, processing job changes, running audits, and supporting payroll and benefits system integrity.
  • Prepare records and documentation for audits, unemployment matters, legal requests, and other external review processes.

Experience and skills needed

  • At least 5 years of progressive HR generalist experience, ideally in a fast-moving, multi-state environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of US federal and state employment legislation.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve employee relations matters with sound judgment and discretion.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS tools such as Rippling, Workday, ADP, or BambooHR.
  • Advanced Excel capability along with strong proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.
  • Excellent communication, organization, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
