About Transpower and the Role
Transpower operates New Zealand's National Grid, the critical high-voltage transmission system connecting generation areas with urban and business centers across Aotearoa. Their mission revolves around enabling an electrified and decarbonised future by continuously investing in skilled people, streamlined processes, and advanced tools.
The Enterprise Business Capability (EBC) Programme is an ongoing initiative to modernize business operations through a unified enterprise resource planning system — Oracle. This transformation is designed to simplify workflows, reduce complexity, and enhance value generation.
As part of this programme, Oracle Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM) is being adopted to enhance people management systems across the entire employment lifecycle.
Opportunity
This 12-month fixed-term position based in Wellington’s Central Business District is ideal for an experienced HR Generalist with specialist knowledge in HRIS implementations. The successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert supporting Oracle HCM implementation to ensure the system configuration, testing, and deployment meet organizational needs, comply with policies and legislation, and suit workforce requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the EBC programme team, HCM Capability Lead, People, Payroll, Finance, and Data teams to deliver input on Core HCM, Absence, Journeys, Recruitment, Compensation, Talent, Time and Labour, and Workforce Scheduling modules.
- Collaborate with implementation partners to define requirements, review system design and configuration deliverables, and drive user acceptance testing.
- Identify and mitigate risks and issues while contributing towards readiness for the July 2027 go-live and early adoption phases.
- Translate HR policies, employment legislation, data reporting, and workforce strategies into pragmatic system and process decisions.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Proven experience in HRIS implementation encompassing system configuration, build, testing, validation, acceptance, and deployment.
- A strong background in generalist HR across the entire employee lifecycle, including leave management, recruitment, onboarding, talent development, and workforce administration.
- Familiarity with reviewing user stories, acceptance criteria, design documentation, questionnaires, and configuration details.
- An analytical mindset enabling systems thinking that integrates people, processes, data, technology, and tools.
- Exceptional collaboration and communication capabilities, with confidence engaging cross-functional teams, senior leaders, and external partners.
- Adaptability to handle ambiguity, evolving requirements, and competing priorities effectively.
Desirable but not mandatory qualifications include prior Oracle Cloud HCM implementation exposure and experience with HR transformation or business process improvement projects.
