Position Summary
The HR Generalist specializing in Employee Relations will be an essential partner in creating a fair, compliant, and supportive workplace environment. The role focuses on managing employee relations issues, conducting workplace investigations, and advising leadership and employees on sensitive topics. Key responsibilities include handling case management, unbiased investigations, performance management support, disciplinary guidance, conflict resolution, onboarding assistance, training support, and ensuring HR compliance throughout the organization.
Primary Responsibilities
- Act as the main contact for employee relations matters including grievances, conflicts, and workplace issues.
- Lead thorough, impartial investigations into complaints such as harassment, discrimination, misconduct, and policy breaches.
- Collect and assess evidence, conduct interviews, prepare detailed reports, and provide data-driven recommendations.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws as well as company policies during investigations.
- Collaborate with leadership on corrective measures, promoting consistent application of disciplinary actions.
- Keep accurate and confidential records of cases and analyze trends in employee relations incidents.
- Coach management on performance processes, progressive discipline, conflict management, and engagement improvement strategies.
- Guide handling of challenging conversations, terminations, and conflict situations in the workplace.
- Support leaders in managing complex employee matters while limiting organizational risks.
- Ensure consistent interpretation and implementation of HR policies throughout the company.
- Assist with crafting, updating, and communicating policies to enhance clarity and compliance.
- Stay informed on changes in employment legislation and advise on their effects on HR practices.
- Participate in onboarding processes, employee training programs, and engagement activities.
- Maintain data accuracy in HRIS systems and generate reports related to employee relations metrics.
- Identify emerging patterns in employee relations cases and suggest proactive initiatives like training or policy enhancements.
- Contribute to fostering a positive employee experience and strengthening overall organizational culture.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a comparable field.
- At least 3 years of experience in HR employee relations with expertise in conducting thorough workplace investigations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of California employment regulations.
- Certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR is preferred but not mandatory.

- Ability to manage sensitive and high-stakes employee relations cases with discretion and sound judgment.
- Strong investigative expertise including interviewing techniques, documentation, and evidence analysis.

- Proficient with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office; familiarity with ADP and Greenhouse is advantageous.
Physical Demands
- Extended periods of seated work at a computer workstation.
- Ability to occasionally lift items weighing up to 10 pounds.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000 annually. Full-time employees become eligible for benefits after 60 days, which include:
