Role overview
Coinbase is looking for an HR Business Partner to join the People team and work closely with functional leadership to convert business priorities into effective people and organizational plans. This role owns the HRBP relationship for assigned groups, covering areas such as organization design, performance management, employee growth, and retention. The work is fast-paced and high-accountability, with a strong emphasis on data, judgment, and impact as Coinbase continues to scale.
Working style
Coinbase operates as a remote-first company, though it is not fully remote in practice. Team members should expect quarterly in-person working sessions known as “surges.”
What you will handle
- Lead the people strategy for your client group, including performance, compensation, development, engagement, and retention programs.
- Work with business leaders on workforce planning, organization design, and people initiatives that support growth and operating goals.
- Coach leaders on development planning, career progression, leveling, change management, and delicate employee matters.
- Use people metrics and trend analysis to generate practical recommendations for leadership decisions.
- Help shape and enforce HR policies that reduce risk and support compliance across global teams, including employee relations matters.
- Partner across People Team centers of excellence to ensure people programs are delivered consistently and effectively.
Experience and qualifications
Applicants should bring deep HR or talent-related experience and the ability to advise senior leaders on organizational and people strategy. Success in complex, high-stakes situations, comfort with confidential information, and a track record of using data to influence decisions are all important for this position.
Additional requirements and notes
- Applicants should have 8+ years of experience in Talent Management, Organizational Effectiveness, Recruiting Leadership, Talent Strategy & Operations, Consulting, Chief of Staff, or HR, with direct exposure to advising senior leaders.
- You should be able to navigate complex stakeholder scenarios involving performance issues, reorganizations, and sensitive employee situations.
- Experience turning people data such as engagement survey results, attrition patterns, and performance trends into clear recommendations is required.
- Demonstrated ability to build and run people programs from end to end, such as performance cycles, talent reviews, and organization redesigns, is important.
- High integrity and sound discretion are needed when dealing with confidential information at every level of the company.
- The role expects responsible use of generative AI, with human oversight to ensure outputs are business-ready and improve speed, cost, and quality.
Compensation and benefits
The annual base salary range for this position is USD 176,035 to USD 207,100, not including equity or bonus. Total compensation may also include equity, bonus eligibility, and benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and a 401(k).
