With a history spanning 170 years, the company has built a trusted brand around a large portfolio of more than 400 products that support a broad range of eye care needs. Its global network includes roughly 13,000 employees and operations in around 100 countries, supporting continued innovation in eye health.

Role Overview

This HR Business Partner role is based onsite in Waterford and requires five days of in-office work each week. The position is responsible for both operational and strategic HR support across operations and support functions, working closely with leadership to deliver practical people solutions. The HRBP also collaborates with the wider HR team to implement initiatives, manage change programmes, and ensure policies and procedures are applied consistently across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic partner to assigned business units and help shape business plans and organisational priorities.
  • Build strong working relationships with senior leaders and managers, influencing decisions in a complex and highly regulated setting.
  • Make sure HR policies, procedures, and working practices comply with relevant legislation.
  • Advise on employee relations matters, including investigations, grievances, and disciplinary processes.
  • Drive people-focused initiatives that align with site objectives and broader business goals.
  • Support succession planning and encourage internal movement and growth within assigned teams.
  • Assist with change management efforts in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.
  • Contribute to salary planning and the annual review cycle.
  • Help prepare the business unit operating plan, HR budget, and workforce headcount plans.
  • Promote employee recognition programmes so staff feel valued and appreciated.
  • Back CSR activities, including community, sustainability, and employee-led initiatives.
  • Support engagement programmes and site-wide activities that strengthen an inclusive workplace culture.
  • Work with leadership to embed wellbeing, inclusion, and engagement strategies across the site.
  • Help maintain a collaborative, high-performing, and people-first environment.

Requirements

  • A degree in Human Resources, Business, or a closely related field.
  • At least 8 years of HR experience, preferably in life sciences or a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience in industrial relations and employee relations, with union exposure seen as an advantage.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively at both strategic and hands-on operational levels.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Good understanding of Irish employment law and current HR best practices.
