Job description
Role overview
Warwickshire County Council is looking to appoint a permanent Housing Assessment Officer to join the Home Environment Assessment and Response Team (HEART). The service supports Warwickshire residents by helping them access grants and equipment that make homes safer, easier to use, and healthier to live in.
Location and working pattern
The role is mainly based in the HEART North area, operating from Nuneaton and Bedworth Council Town Hall. Depending on service needs, you may also support the South Warwickshire area. The post offers flexible working, with the option to work from home or from a HEART office, and there will be occasions when you are asked to attend offices or other locations across Warwickshire for meetings, training, or other work-related activity.
Team environment
You will join a cooperative, multidisciplinary team and work closely with Occupational Therapists, Housing Assessment Officers, and Housing Duty Officers. HEART is described as an innovative service with a strong community focus and the chance to make a meaningful difference to local residents.
What you will do
In this position, you will handle a varied caseload and carry out detailed needs assessments. You will develop suitable housing solutions in line with HEART policy and the relevant legislation, make sure cases move forward within expected timescales, and help deliver housing adaptations and related support that meet residents’ needs. The job also requires you to balance competing priorities while staying adaptable and responsive to demand.
Benefits and reward
Warwickshire County Council offers a generous pension scheme with an employer contribution of typically around 19% per month, plus a benefits package for members and dependants. Additional rewards include agile working, generous annual leave, bank holidays, an extra day at Christmas, and access to the Vivup benefits and discounts platform.
Additional information
The council is committed to safeguarding children, young people, and adults. Successful candidates will be required to complete pre-employment checks, including a DBS check. If a criminal offence has been declared, it will be considered through an individual assessment in line with DBS guidance and the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
For this role, spoken English fluency is required. You must be able to speak clearly and provide advice to the public in accurate spoken English.
The closing date for applications is 26 June 2026.
