Overview
Comfort Keepers is seeking a dedicated housekeeper to deliver non-medical in-home support aimed at ensuring clients' comfort, safety, and general supervision. This role involves companionship and home management duties, supporting individuals who require social interaction and minimal guidance to maintain a safe and orderly living environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current certification in CPR and First Aid must be maintained.
- Annual renewal of Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check is mandatory.
- Applicants must pass Criminal Background Investigation, Motor Vehicle Driving Records (if driving is required), Professional and Personal Reference Checks, and agree to random drug and alcohol testing.
- Reliable transportation and punctuality are essential; a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance are required when driving during assignments.
- Completion of Comfort Keepers' training and orientation program is required.
- Ability to follow Comfort Keepers policies and procedures, work independently within the home environment, and maintain positive interactions with clients, families, and staff.
- Competency in following both verbal and written instructions as well as documenting services provided.
- Demonstrates sincere concern for client welfare, high ethical standards, honesty, and integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend to clients' non-medical needs based on the established Plan of Care.
- Provide companionship through meaningful conversation, listening, reading aloud, and engaging in activities that promote mental alertness and emotional support.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment by performing light housekeeping, including vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms, and laundering garments and linens.
- Prepare and serve meals as required, ensuring cleanliness of dishes and kitchen after each meal.
- Assist clients with communication tasks such as phone calls and letter writing and accompany them to walks, community visits, or salons.
- Support clients in taking self-administered medications following Comfort Keepers’ Medication Policy.
- Observe and promptly report any changes in client’s mental, physical, emotional condition, or home environment to supervisors.
- Maintain professional, effective communication with clients, family, and coworkers.
- Participate in required training sessions, staff meetings, and client conferences as requested.
- Complete and submit accurate service documentation promptly.
- Use equipment and supplies safely and properly.
- Protect client confidentiality at all times.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Compensation
This role offers wages starting at 20.00 dollars per hour.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
The position takes place in clients’ homes and travel by automobile. There is potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases through contact with blood or bodily fluids.
The job requires frequent physical activities including standing, sitting, walking, bending, talking, and hearing. Manual dexterity and strength sufficient to lift up to 12 kilograms (25 lbs) and perform household tasks are necessary.
