About the Role

West Berkshire Council invites applications from experienced Housekeepers to join their Adult Social Care Service at Birchwood Care Home. In this role, you will ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene to promote the comfort and well-being of our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out daily cleaning tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, and maintaining general cleanliness.
  • Maintain all areas to exemplary standards of hygiene and tidiness.
  • Manage laundry operations including washing, ironing, and folding of linens and clothing.
  • Assist with organising and storing residents' personal belongings.
  • Report maintenance or repair needs promptly to appropriate personnel.
  • Collaborate with the Head Housekeeper to ensure effective management of housekeeping services, focusing on residents' needs.

Working Schedule

The position operates on a two-week rotating schedule with alternate weekends required to work on Saturdays and Sundays. Working hours are from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Candidate Profile

  • Previous experience in housekeeping, ideally within a care home or hospitality setting.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and thorough cleaning skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively within a team.
  • Effective time management and the prioritisation of tasks.
  • Strong communication skills for positive interaction with residents and colleagues.
