Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a full-time House Leader based in Upper Hutt to oversee and motivate a residential support team providing 24-hour assistance to adults with intellectual and/or physical disabilities. This role involves both direct support and leadership responsibilities, including liaising with Service Coordinators to maintain a high-quality service in a community home setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a team of support workers within the residential home environment.
- Work alongside the Service Coordinator to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services to residents.
- Organize and allocate staff rosters ensuring adequate coverage, including a rotating schedule covering Monday to Sunday.
- Prepare and maintain clear, effective reports on service delivery and other relevant matters.
- Assist with balancing general ledgers related to the service.
- Communicate supportively and clearly with residents, their families, and coordinators.
- Participate actively in community engagement, recreational activities, and physical care as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience leading and coaching a team, preferably in a disability or similar care setting.
- Previous exposure to roster management and financial ledger balancing.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Experience supporting people with disabilities and challenging behaviours is highly advantageous.
- Reliable, committed, and passionate about working with people in a care role.
- A current driver’s licence and relevant qualifications are required.
- Competency with computers and applications such as Word and email.
Additional Requirements
- Applicants who are non-residents must meet Immigration New Zealand Level 3 skill requirements, including at least three years paid experience in care or holding a relevant NZQF Level 4 qualification or diploma.
Work Details and Benefits
- Full-time position (40 hours per week) based in Upper Hutt.
- Salary range of $23.97 to $29.68 per hour plus an additional House Leader Allowance.
- Shift work including days, afternoons, evenings, overnight and weekend shifts.
