House Leader - Residential - South Auckland

Role overview

This is a full-time House Leader position based in Pukekohe, South Auckland. The role is for 40 hours per week and includes a House Leader allowance on top of the hourly pay range of $23.97 to $29.68. The service supports adults with intellectual and/or physical disabilities in residential homes and in the wider community across Auckland, with 24-hour support delivered through a rotating roster from Monday through Sunday.

What the role involves

The House Leader position blends hands-on support work with team leadership. You will help guide, motivate, and supervise the support team in the home while working under the direction of the Service Coordinator to help deliver a safe, efficient, and effective service for the people supported in the community home.

Skills and experience

• Previous experience leading a team is an advantage, especially where coaching and staff development were part of the work.
• Strong written reporting ability is important.
• You should be comfortable creating and managing rosters.
• Exposure to general ledger balancing is helpful.
• You need to communicate clearly and supportively with the people you support, their families, and your coordinator.
• The job is physically active, so a good level of fitness is required for tasks that may include sport, community activities, recreation, and personal care support.
• Clear, fluent spoken and written English is essential.

Ideal candidate

• Experience supporting people with disabilities and/or challenging behaviours is preferred.
• You should bring reliability, commitment, and genuine enthusiasm for people-focused work.
• A driver's licence is required.
• A relevant qualification is preferred.
• You should be confident using a computer, including Word, internet browsing tools, and email.

Eligibility and immigration requirements

Non-resident applicants must meet Immigration New Zealand Level 3 skill requirements to be considered for this position. This means either:

• You have at least 3 years of paid experience in the care workforce at or above the care workforce wage rate; or
• You hold a relevant qualification on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework, which must be at least Level 4 for a role at skill level 3, or a diploma for a role at skill level 2.
