Théodor Brasserie is a contemporary French brasserie situated in Berlin's Charlottenburg district, revitalizing the historic Mommseneck building on Mommsenstraße. This venue offers a blend of classic French brasserie cuisine, curated wines, attentive service, and an inviting yet elegant ambiance. The goal is to establish Théodor as a premier all-day dining destination in Berlin City West, transitioning service from breakfast and lunch into dinner.
Role Overview
The Host / Hostess serves as the initial and final point of contact for guests, warmly welcoming and managing reservations to ensure seamless arrival, seating, and departure experiences. This role is not limited to administrative tasks but requires active presence on the floor, attentiveness to room dynamics, and readiness to assist the service team with various duties such as handling plates, trays, mise en place, and guest requests.
The position demands close collaboration with Restaurant Management, reception, and service teams, requiring a warm, organized, and confident individual passionate about hospitality. The ideal candidate remains composed during busy periods and appreciates that genuine hospitality begins prior to guests reaching their table.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience as a Host / Hostess, Receptionist, or in a customer-facing restaurant role
- Experience in restaurant service is highly advantageous
- Enthusiasm for hospitality and the dynamic environment of a bustling restaurant
- Confident and cordial communication skills both face-to-face and via phone
- Familiarity with reservation management systems, preferably SevenRooms or similar platforms
- Ability to organize bookings, handle walk-ins, manage wait times, and allocate tables with care and structure
- Willingness and capability to assist the floor service team, including carrying plates, trays, and managing table logistics
- Keen awareness of guest flow, timing, and the restaurant atmosphere
- Calm, friendly, and solution-focused attitude during peak hours
- Professional appearance and natural confidence when greeting guests
- Effective communication with Restaurant Management, service, and bar teams
- Patience and discretion when handling guest requests and changes under pressure
- Proficiency in spoken German and English; additional languages are beneficial
- Dependable, punctual, and responsible work ethic
