Southern Cross Care WA is a well-established not-for-profit organisation with over 50 years of service dedicated to improving the lives of West Australians. With a team of approximately 1000 employees and 130 volunteers, they provide integrated care and accommodation services addressing the needs of the aging population and those with mental health conditions.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Hospitality Staff member to join the team at Jeremiah Donovan House, located in Forrestfield, Western Australia. This facility accommodates 65 residents and provides a comprehensive range of services including nursing care, dementia support, medication management, allied health assistance, personal care, and hospitality services.
This permanent onsite role involves working shifts on Monday to Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM and weekends (Saturday and Sunday) from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Your primary duties will focus on maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents through various hospitality tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the facility to ensure a comfortable and homely atmosphere for residents.
- Support kitchen operations such as basic food preparation, cleaning of kitchen equipment, dishwashing, and maintaining sanitary conditions in kitchen and dining areas.
- Assist with meal service activities including plating meals, delivering food to residents, and organizing dining spaces efficiently before and after meals.
- Manage the ordering and restocking of cleaning, laundry, and household supplies as necessary.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate takes pride in delivering high-quality work and enjoys establishing positive relationships with elderly residents. You are capable of managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously with excellent organizational skills. Experience working in bustling kitchen or food service environments is advantageous.
Essential Requirements
- At least one year of hospitality experience, preferably related to kitchen or food service duties.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and hygiene standards, including safe food handling and cleaning protocols.
- Ability to sustain high cleanliness and organizational standards in a fast-paced setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact respectfully with residents, their families, and colleagues.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
- Basic awareness of infection prevention and control specific to aged care environments.
- Ability to follow procedures accurately and maintain detailed records related to food handling, cleaning, and inventory.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends, public holidays, and provide short notice coverage when required.
