Overview
The Hospital Receptionist serves as the primary contact point for patients and visitors at the healthcare facility, delivering courteous and professional interactions. This role includes managing patient registration, appointment scheduling, billing coordination, handling telephonic communications, and overseeing front office operations, while strictly upholding patient confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients, their companions, and visitors, directing them appropriately within the hospital.
- Register new patients and maintain accurate demographic details.
- Schedule, adjust, and confirm outpatient department (OPD) appointments with medical consultants.
- Manage incoming and outgoing telephone calls with professionalism.
- Verify patient information and collect necessary documentation during registration.
- Coordinate effectively with medical and support departments such as doctors, nurses, laboratories, pharmacies, radiology, and billing.
- Prepare patient registration forms, OPD files, and related documents.
- Collect consultation fees and issue receipts according to hospital policies when required.
- Maintain appointment logs, patient files, and front office reports systematically.
- Assist with patient admission, discharge, and referral processes.
- Address patient inquiries and complaints courteously, escalating issues to the Hospital Manager when necessary.
- Ensure confidentiality of patient data and adhere to hospital standards including NABH regulations.
- Maintain the cleanliness and professional setup of the reception area.
- Support emergency patient registration promptly without delays.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by hospital management.
