Heavy Duty Cleaner

Role Overview

This role is focused on intensive cleaning duties across a large site, with an emphasis on hard floor care, elevated surface cleaning, waste handling, and the upkeep of multiple common and service areas. The position also involves working with cleaning machinery and following company health and safety standards at all times.

Key Duties

• Carry out dry mopping, wet mopping, scrubbing, and polishing of hard floor surfaces using handheld or walk-behind buffing equipment.
• Remove floor finish and re-apply it by hand or with powered equipment when needed.
• Move waste from collection points to garbage bins or compactors, and operate the compactor while keeping it clean on a routine basis.
• Relocate maintenance equipment between floors and work areas as required.
• Clean glass surfaces that can only be reached with ladders, scaffolding, or similar extension tools.
• Wash and maintain washroom floors, including stripping and finishing work.
• Clean stairwells and elevator cabs where ladder access is necessary.
• Wash walls and ceilings, and dust ceiling lights and ceiling fans.
• Use pile-lifting equipment to refresh specific carpet types.
• Shampoo broadloom carpets and operate extraction equipment for deep cleaning.
• Follow all workplace health and safety rules and adhere to company policies.

About You

The ideal candidate brings prior experience in cleaning or housekeeping and can understand and communicate detailed instructions clearly, both spoken and written. You should be comfortable balancing several tasks at once, setting priorities, and working with limited supervision. Strong attention to detail, good time management, familiarity with cleaning equipment, and the physical ability to perform demanding duties are all essential.
