Job description

Job Overview

The General Helper role involves the preparation, serving, and presentation of meals while ensuring food quality and appealing presentation standards are consistently maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare food for the next day’s production and plate individual meals accordingly.
  • Adhere strictly to workplace safety protocols during all tasks.
  • Properly store food items in assigned areas following standard procedures regarding wrapping, dating, hygiene, and rotation.
  • Carry out general cleaning tasks including waste disposal to designated locations.
  • Distribute necessary supplies, utensils, and portable equipment efficiently.
  • Use approved recipes and production guidelines to maintain quality, appropriate serving temperatures, and portion control standards.
  • Ensure all sanitation and safety regulations are met without compromise.
  • Be adaptable to working in multiple workstations such as meal distribution and packaging.
  • Learn to perform skid wrapping of finished products as part of duties.
  • Assist with food preparation and cooking activities when required.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Possession of a valid Food Handler Certificate or equivalent recognized by province.
  • Effective time management and organizational abilities to handle workload efficiently.
  • Capable of working both autonomously and collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Proficient in English for both verbal and written communication, with ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Previous experience in food service environments such as healthcare, hospitality, restaurant, or fast food sectors is advantageous.
  • Physical capability to perform job duties including occasional lifting of objects up to 40 pounds.
