Healthcare Regulatory Associate

Position Overview

Leech Tishman Nelson Hardiman is looking to hire a Healthcare Regulatory Associate with 2 to 4 years of relevant experience to join their Los Angeles (Westwood) office. The role involves collaborating closely with attorneys to advise various healthcare-related clients including providers, management service organizations, physician practices, digital health firms, and other healthcare entities on federal and state regulatory compliance matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform legal research and draft regulatory opinion letters, memoranda, client advisories, and related documents.
• Provide guidance on corporate practice of medicine, fee-splitting, management services agreements, professional entity structures, and formation of multi-state entities.
• Assist with state-specific licensing, enrollment, ownership, supervision, and operational compliance for healthcare entities.
• Research scope of practice and supervision requirements for healthcare professionals according to state laws.
• Support compliance analyses concerning the Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, and civil enforcement risks.
• Contribute to Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement issues such as coverage, coding, billing, and payment rules.
• Assist with telehealth compliance projects including state licensure, prescribing regulations, patient consent, provider-patient relationship, and reimbursement considerations.
• Support FDA compliance matters relating to healthcare, life sciences, digital health, and wellness products and services.
• Examine healthcare contracts, policies, business models, and operational procedures for regulatory compliance concerns.
• Collaborate with attorneys and clients to identify regulatory risks and develop appropriate compliance strategies.
• Support healthcare business transactions by assisting with entity structuring, licensing analysis, and regulatory compliance matters.

Candidate Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in healthcare regulatory compliance or healthcare transactions.
• Substantial background representing employers in employment litigation is preferred.
• Must possess a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
• Licensed to practice law in California.
• Experience researching and interpreting federal and state healthcare laws and regulations.
• Preferred familiarity with areas such as corporate practice of medicine, healthcare licensing, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, telehealth compliance, scope of practice, FDA compliance, and multi-state healthcare operations.
• Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, and legal research tools like WestLaw.
• Strong skills in legal research, technical writing, oral communication, client service, and analytical reasoning.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, self-driven, and capable of autonomous and collaborative work.
• Track record demonstrating professional excellence and strong performance.

Job Details

• Position type: Full-time exempt professional role.
• Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8-hour day shifts.
• Location: Los Angeles, California.
• Salary: Starting at $170,000 annually, competitive and based on experience, with discretionary bonuses.
• Travel requirement: None.
