About the Role

Join Harris Tate Lawyers as an Employment Lawyer in Tauranga, contributing to a well-established and growing employment law practice. This role blends advisory, dispute resolution, and litigation work, providing high-quality services to a loyal client base. You'll oversee cases from initial consultation to resolution and help develop the practice as it expands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review employment contracts, workplace policies, and agreements with contractors.
  • Advise on disciplinary actions, performance management, organizational restructuring, and redundancies.
  • Lead and advise on workplace investigations.
  • Handle personal grievance claims and other employment disputes effectively.
  • Represent clients in mediations, Employment Relations Authority hearings, and Employment Court cases as necessary.
  • Build and sustain strong client relationships by offering practical and commercially viable advice.
  • Support the ongoing growth and strategic development of the employment law team.

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates will possess a minimum of three years’ post-qualification experience practising employment law in New Zealand and hold or be eligible to obtain a current practising certificate. Strong technical knowledge of employment law, excellent drafting and advocacy capabilities, and the aptitude for independent file management are essential. The role demands a client-focused, commercial approach with a commitment to exceptional service.
