About the Role

Join the highly regarded Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA), ranked second in The Sunday Independent's Ireland's Best Employer 2025 list. We are currently welcoming applications from dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Assistants (Personal Assistants) to become part of our expanding team serving the North Central Dublin region, including Ballymun, Drumcondra, North Strand, and nearby areas.

Working Hours and Locations

We offer full-time and part-time positions across various schedules: 15-20 hours, 20-30 hours, or 30-39 hours weekly. Please specify your availability when applying.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Current hourly wage ranges from €16.21 to €18.03 based on experience, with a projected 2% increase in 2026 following the WRC interim agreement for Section 39 organizations.
  • Early morning (before 8 am) and late evening (after 8 pm) shifts pay €20.26 to €22.54 per hour.
  • Sunday work offers €24.32 to €27.05 per hour.
  • Public holidays compensated at €32.42 to €36.06 per hour.

Job Purpose

The primary objective is to assist our members in achieving the highest possible degree of independence in daily activities. This includes helping with personal care, household tasks, social and educational support, travel assistance, and companionship. Work is performed in the homes and communities of the members.

Key Relationships

Effective collaboration and communication with other home support staff, Assisted Living Service Coordinators, and Scheduling personnel are vital for successful service delivery.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Essential: QQI Level 5 Major Award in Homecare Support or an equivalent qualification in Social Care.
  • Relevant QQI Major Awards recognized by IWA include Community Health Services, Health Service Skills, and Health Care Support, each encompassing safety, care skills, and workplace policy components.
  • A clean full driving license is mandatory.
  • Possession and use of a personal smartphone for visit check-in/out is required.
  • A kind, compassionate, and person-centered approach is vital.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build meaningful relationships.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Flexibility in work scheduling, including weekdays and every other weekend.
  • Respect for confidentiality and privacy.
  • Competencies in communication, motivation, planning, customer focus, and accountability.
