Role overview
TerraGlen Residential Care Services is seeking a Healthcare Assistant for a permanent position in Enniscorthy, County Wexford. The role is based on a 39-hour work week and focuses on day-to-day support within a residential care setting. The post combines direct assistance to service users, light administrative duties, and household tasks that help the service run smoothly.
What the role involves
- Encourage and support service users to take part in planned activities of their choosing.
- Provide personal care and a broader level of day-to-day support tailored to each individual’s needs.
- Work in a way that reflects New Directions (HSE, 2012), promoting independence and community inclusion.
- Build your understanding of each service user through active listening, reflection, and continued self-development.
- Take on a key worker responsibility when required, with support from senior staff.
- Collaborate closely with the wider team, share workload ownership, and contribute positively to regular team meetings and supervision sessions with the PIC, Deputy Manager, or SCL.
- Protect confidentiality at all times in line with GDPR and the organisation’s expectations.
- Support medication management and administration according to policy.
- Communicate with multidisciplinary professionals, families, and other relevant contacts involved in a service user’s care.
- Follow health and safety procedures, including observation and reporting duties.
- Take part in person-centred planning meetings and related discussions, then follow through on agreed actions and outcomes.
- Help ensure service users receive consistent support in their daily lives.
Requirements
- A relevant Health Care or Social Care qualification, with QQI Level 5 as the minimum standard.
- A full, clean driving licence with at least two years of experience is desirable.
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting people with disabilities.
Salary and terms
This is a permanent full-time role with a salary of €32,691 per year. The schedule is 39 hours per week.
