Role Overview

We are seeking a compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our team at the Cardiff and the Vale Hospice, primarily offering support at Powys in community settings. This full-time position involves working day and night shifts under the supervision of registered professionals, providing holistic, person-centered care during patients' final stages of life.

You will support patients and their loved ones by assisting with personal care, symptom management, emotional support, and daily living activities. Additionally, you will help maintain a safe, dignified environment and contribute to care planning efforts within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications and Experience

• NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent Level 2 qualification such as NCFE or BTEC
• Functional skills in numeracy and literacy at Level 2
• Minimum of six months recent experience delivering care within health or social care environments
• Strong communication skills with an ability to engage empathetically and person-centredly
• Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Knowledge of palliative and end-of-life care, including holistic care planning and symptom management
• Skills in planning, prioritising care, recognizing patient condition changes, and escalating appropriately
