Role overview

InisCare is hiring a full-time Healthcare Assistant for its Dublin 11 location. The organisation’s approach is built around the idea that well-supported caregivers provide better care for customers. The purpose of the role is to help customers remain safe, comfortable, and independent in their own homes.

Job summary

The Healthcare Assistant will support the customer in daily living and personal care tasks so they can continue living at home with dignity and safety. Typical duties include help with bathing or showering, dressing, continence support, meal preparation, and light household tasks.

Key duties

  • Follow the latest safety procedures, including safe moving and handling practices.
  • Escalate any concerns about customers or colleagues to the manager if safe working boundaries are not being followed.
  • Report any safeguarding issue, or anything that may be a safeguarding concern, to the manager without delay.
  • Keep daily records clear, accurate, and factual, documenting all completed tasks for each shift.
  • Protect customer privacy and maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Attend any training arranged by InisCare and work within safe, professional limits.
  • Carry out all customer-facing tasks, including medication prompting, personal care, and meal preparation, with dignity and respect.
  • Support the customer’s independence and encourage them to make their own decisions wherever possible.
  • Engage with the customer throughout the shift in a professional and appropriate manner, regardless of communication or cognitive ability.
  • Arrive for scheduled shifts on time and notify the office promptly if you cannot attend or will be late; do not contact the customer directly.

Qualifications and training

The role requires a QQI Level 5 Healthcare Award or an equivalent qualification. In addition, the following online training modules are required: Children’s First, Safeguarding, Dementia Training, GDPR Training, AMRIC Basics of Infection Prevention and Control, AMRIC Hand Hygiene, and Putting on and taking off PPE in Community Healthcare, all via HSE LAND.

Skills and competencies

The position calls for practical care skills, clear communication, compassion, reliability, and the ability to work safely and professionally in a home-care setting. Candidates should be comfortable following procedures, supporting emotional wellbeing, documenting work accurately, and adapting to changing care needs.
