Job description
About Calian
Calian has been helping organizations handle complex challenges, reduce risk, and move forward since 1982. What started as a small consulting company has grown into an established international business serving defence, space, health, nuclear energy, public safety, and government sectors.
The company focuses on practical, innovative solutions that strengthen resilience, improve awareness, and keep people and organizations connected. This role is a fit for someone who enjoys purpose-driven work and solving real-world problems.
Position Overview
Calian Health Services is hiring a Physiotherapist for the Canadian Forces Health Services Centre in Ottawa. The role involves providing consultation, assessment, and treatment across the physiotherapy clinic through booked appointments and walk-ins, as well as in the Care Delivery Unit through sick parade and consultation, within a collaborative care model.
This environment offers a highly motivated patient population, often physically fit and engaged in recovery. The position allows sufficient time for assessment and treatment, with a strong focus on evidence-based care, manual therapy, and exercise-based rehabilitation. The clinical team works closely together, and military members have broad access to healthcare resources that support readiness for service.
Responsibilities
- Provide physiotherapy and rehabilitation care using evidence-based methods and accepted best practices, while staying within professional standards and scope of practice.
- Manage an orthopedic caseload of approximately 12 to 15 patients each day.
- Assess and treat neuro-musculoskeletal conditions primarily linked to sports, training, work-related injuries, and accidents.
- Perform screening assessments, deliver education, and recommend orthoses in a direct-access setting such as CDU walk-ins.
- Design exercise plans that support recovery, injury prevention, and fitness improvement.
- Offer ergonomics guidance, including on-site workplace assessments for patients.
- Educate patients and healthcare team members on physiotherapy topics such as injury prevention and health promotion.
- Help develop, prepare, and deliver clinic programs that support education and rehabilitation, including proprioceptive rehab, reintegration, and back pain self-management initiatives.
- Take part in ongoing patient management through case presentations in interdisciplinary meetings, clinical rounds, patient conferences, and follow-up scheduling.
Qualifications
- Active and good-standing registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
- One of the following additional credentials: Manual Therapy Level 2, Mackenzie Part B, or an Acupuncture/Dry Needling certificate.
- Valid Standard First Aid and Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare Provider level, or an equivalent such as CPR/AED Level C.
- At least 3 years of experience in orthopedics or sports medicine.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Secret level.
Security Clearance and Screening
- A security clearance and/or vulnerable sector screening may be necessary for this position.
- The recruiter will explain the clearance process and requirements.
Compensation
The hourly pay range for this role is between 45.00 and 51.25.
Working Hours
This role follows weekday hours from 7:30am to 4pm, with no evenings or weekends.
Vacancy
There is 1 opening for this position.

All applications are reviewed, and only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
Perks and Benefits
This role offers a patient-centered approach with a strong emphasis on evidence-based rehabilitation and active treatment methods. You will work in a setting that prioritizes treatment over billing or marketing duties, with generous access to patient resources, roomy treatment areas, and a motivated patient base.
The workplace includes a collaborative multidisciplinary team, as well as in-house and on-base facilities with extensive exercise programming, gym equipment, custom bracing and orthotics, and specialized military equipment. Full-time eligible positions also include a comprehensive health and dental benefits package.
