Role overview
A Healthcare Assistant supports patients in settings such as hospitals, residential care homes, or at a patient’s residence. The role centers on helping people with everyday care needs, monitoring basic health indicators, and supporting nurses and other clinical staff.
What you will do
- Help patients with routine daily tasks, including eating, bathing, and using the toilet.
- Use appropriate equipment to assist with moving and repositioning patients when required.
- Keep the patient’s room or home neat and orderly.
- Record basic observations such as blood pressure and temperature.
- Speak with patients in a reassuring and supportive manner.
- Join meetings with other healthcare professionals when needed.
- Support nurses and other team members with day-to-day care tasks.
- Follow professional care standards and workplace guidelines.
- Share updates with Case Managers and flag any important changes in a patient’s condition.
