Overview
Southern Cross Fertilisers seeks a strategic Occupational Hygiene, Health & Wellbeing Specialist to lead and enhance health and safety initiatives across Northern Australia Operations. This vital role focuses on advancing injury management, fitness for work, health surveillance, and workplace wellbeing, ensuring a safe and compliant working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop strategic programs for injury management, fitness for work, health surveillance, and wellbeing across Northern Australia Operations.
- Identify, assess, and control occupational health hazards to maintain adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Design and conduct occupational hygiene sampling and exposure monitoring initiatives.
- Analyze laboratory data from NATA-accredited sources to verify compliance with workplace exposure standards.
- Manage complex cases involving workers’ compensation, injury management, and psychosocial risk factors.
- Provide expert guidance and coaching to management, HR, and Health, Safety, Environment & Community teams.
Requirements
- Dedication to fostering a safe, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational hygiene, industrial hygiene, or a related discipline.
- Formal qualifications in personal injury management.
- Certification as an Occupational Hygienist or a willingness to achieve certification is highly regarded.
- Proven experience in occupational hygiene, injury management, and health program implementation within complex operational environments.

Additional Information
The position is based at the Phosphate Hill site with regular travel required to Mount Isa, Townsville Port, and other office locations. The work schedule follows a FIFO model from Townsville with a 4 on/3 off roster running Monday through Thursday.
