Overview
Under guidance from management or a delegate, this role supports unit operations by handling receptionist and clerical responsibilities. The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) ensures proper management of medical records and effective communication both within the unit and with ancillary departments. Additionally, the role involves overseeing unit supplies and forms and supporting professional growth for self and peers. Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain medical records in organized and accurate condition.
- Utilize established communication protocols effectively.
- Collaborate and communicate efficiently with support departments.
- Manage unit inventory by maintaining appropriate levels of supplies and forms.
- Engage proactively in personal professional development and aid colleagues in their growth.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Education: High School diploma or its equivalent.
- Experience: No prior experience required.
- Licensing: None required.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting are common, alongside frequent bending or stooping.
- Strong communication abilities including auditory and visual skills.
- Attention to detail and legible handwriting are necessary.
- Capability to lift, push, or pull items weighing less than 20 pounds.
- Possible exposure to chemicals, bodily fluids, and infectious agents.
