Goldbelt is currently recruiting a Health Scientist I to join the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD) within the CDC, located at the Roybal Campus in Atlanta, GA. This role involves collaborating with Goldbelt leadership to ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputs for the CDC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies integrating behavioral and communication science into outreach efforts, including management of web and social media approaches to ensure coherent communication materials.
  • Create and maintain an action plan for applying behavioral and communication science principles to program education and outreach, outlining target audiences, scientific justifications, and recommended applications, ensuring continuous updates for effectiveness.
  • Lead or support operational and planning meetings with communication and scientific teams to design and conduct both quantitative and qualitative research, data analysis, and synthesis.
  • Organize communication research and evaluation projects, collecting and synthesizing data to enhance program and project success.
  • Evaluate educational content and messages for clarity and impact on behavior change, employing mixed-method analyses of transcripts and survey data.
  • Collaborate with health agencies and partners, providing scientific guidance on audience knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, and technical advice in developing or assessing educational materials.
  • Assist in revising guidance documents based on insights and feedback from partners regarding evaluation of educational materials.
  • Contribute to communication program evaluation and continuous improvement, including report preparation and feedback mechanisms.
  • Maintain data repositories from previous collection activities; utilize these to develop summaries, audience profiles, and support current communication efforts.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Sciences Research, or related discipline (Bachelor's or Master's).
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including work in clinical or public health settings with communication and coordination responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of behavioral science, communication science, health communication, and behavior change theories with application to education and outreach.
  • Proficiency in creating strategic action plans identifying audiences, messaging, scientific rationale, and communication approaches.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including communications specialists, scientists, and program personnel.
  • Expertise in planning, leading, and evaluating communication research using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Advanced skills in statistical software such as SAS, R, SPSS, or Stata.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Capability to obtain and retain CDC clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within CDC or familiar with its organizational culture is advantageous.
  • Master's degree in Public Health or related field preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $100,000 annually, reflecting a competitive package based on experience and qualifications.
