Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Officer to join a reputable logistics company operating in Limerick. This role is well-suited for an experienced professional who enjoys being actively present on-site, interacting with personnel, and fostering a strong safety culture within busy logistics and warehousing settings. The position covers three operational locations and involves ensuring compliance, providing training, and promoting safety best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct engaging health and safety inductions for new employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Organize and lead manual handling training sessions, including refresher courses.
- Assist in developing and executing risk assessments, Standard Operating Procedures, and safe work methods.
- Perform regular site inspections, safety audits, and deliver toolbox talks to teams.
- Support incident reporting systems, conduct investigations, and oversee corrective action implementation.
- Offer practical health and safety advice to managers, supervisors, and employees.
- Maintain meticulous records related to training, compliance, and health and safety documentation.
- Coordinate with external training agencies and regulatory bodies as needed.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, preferably a diploma or higher.
- Experience as a Health & Safety Officer or in a related role.
- Skillful in delivering manual handling training and site induction programs.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation.
- Background in logistics, warehousing, transportation, manufacturing, or similar fast-paced environments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of influencing personnel across all levels.
- Possession of a full, clean driving license and availability to travel among local sites.
